FAQ
Will archiving delete my channel history?
No. Archiving in Slack preserves all messages and files. The channel becomes read-only and is hidden from the sidebar, but everything is recoverable.
What Slack permissions does this need?
We request the minimum scopes needed: channels:read, channels:history, and channels:manage. We never read message content — only metadata like timestamps.
Can I exclude certain channels from being archived?
Yes. You can whitelist channels by name, prefix (e.g. #team-), or mark them as protected in the dashboard. General and announcements are excluded by default.
